It’s almost my favourite time of the year; Autumn.
I love autumn! There is just something so still and peaceful about the change of the season. It is also the beginning of the new academic year and this year it’s going to be one full of challenge. Unlike last academic year I think there will be a little less stress from covid and some return to normality. Even though I am still a bit apprehensive about covid and going out I also know having both vaccinations helps.
Anyway back to my love of autumn. The change of colours all around is something that I adore, the autumnal colours tend to be the colours I wear a lot and it means being able to wear my boots and dresses with tights. Also the colours always give me that 70’s hippy chic feeling. I was definitely born at the wrong time and this often shows in my love for vintage clothing.
Halloween is also a love of mine. I’m not really sure why though. Again I think it would just be a colour thing. Although the scents linked to autumn and Halloween are something else that I adore, although not a pumpkin spice latte. Those cinnamon and apple scents and those heavier scents.
The chill in the morning air and just adding a couple more layers all make me feel so cosy. Maybe that need to feel cosy comes from a needing to feel loved or held close who knows? Anyway this isn’t about what has happened this is more of a feeling of how it all makes me feel.
I know for some that move from summer is difficult with the days getting shorter and the nights getting longer. But for me there is something magical about it all. I love being home just before dark and getting to work as the sun is rising.
All of this does seem to help my mental health and for me it signals a new fresh change that most associate with spring.
I cannot wait to have my own place where as soon as autumn comes I can make myself super cosy and surround myself in that magic that autumn brings. But for now I will make the best of the situation I am in and make my study space as cosy and autumnal as I can.
As always stay safe and look after each other. Life is short and you never know what is around the corner.
